These Terms of Service govern purchases from and use of the Meridian Quiet online store.
By placing an order, you agree to these Terms together with any policies incorporated by reference, including our Returns & Refunds Policy, Shipping Policy, and Privacy Policy.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any consumer right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
1. Seller
Meridian Quiet is an independent vintage costume jewelry business operated from Japan.
Legal seller information is provided in the Legal Notice below.
2. Eligibility and adult-use products
Our vintage costume jewelry is intended for adult use and collecting and is not intended for children.
By placing an order, you confirm that you have legal capacity to enter into the transaction.
3. Products
Unless expressly stated otherwise, items sold by Meridian Quiet are vintage and pre-owned.
Vintage items may show signs of age, previous use, storage, or manufacture, including minor scratches, patina, plating wear, discoloration, variations in finish, or other age-related characteristics.
We make reasonable efforts to describe and photograph each item accurately. Product photographs and condition notes form part of the product description.
Colors and appearance may vary slightly depending on lighting, photography, screens, and display settings.
Measurements and estimated dates may be approximate unless expressly stated otherwise.
4. Materials and metal composition
Vintage costume jewelry may have been manufactured using materials, alloys, plating processes, solders, coatings, adhesives, stones, or other components that differ from those used in contemporary jewelry.
Unless expressly stated otherwise for a particular product, the exact metal and chemical composition of our vintage jewelry has not been independently tested.
Accordingly, unless specifically stated on the relevant product page, we do not represent or warrant that an item is:
- lead-free;
- cadmium-free;
- nickel-free;
- hypoallergenic;
- suitable for sensitive skin; or
- compliant with a particular modern voluntary material standard.
Customers with known metal sensitivities or allergies should take this into consideration before purchase.
Nothing in this section limits any product-safety obligation or consumer right imposed by applicable law.
5. Pricing
Prices are displayed in the currency made available through our store or Shopify Markets.
Prices may change without notice before an order is placed.
The price applicable to an order is the price displayed and accepted through checkout at the time the order is placed, subject to correction of an obvious technical or pricing error as permitted by applicable law.
6. Orders
Submitting an order does not require us to accept an order that cannot lawfully or reasonably be fulfilled.
We may cancel an order before shipment where reasonably necessary, including where:
- the item is no longer available;
- an inventory error has occurred;
- payment cannot be verified;
- fraud or unauthorized activity is reasonably suspected;
- the shipping address is in a jurisdiction we do not serve;
- shipment would violate applicable law or carrier restrictions; or
- an obvious material pricing or technical error has occurred.
If we cancel an order after payment has been collected, the amount collected for the cancelled order will be refunded.
7. Availability and one-of-a-kind items
Many Meridian Quiet products are one-of-a-kind vintage items.
An item may therefore become unavailable without a replacement being available.
Adding an item to a shopping cart does not reserve it unless the checkout system expressly states otherwise.
8. Payment
Available payment methods are shown at checkout.
Orders may be subject to payment verification and fraud-prevention review.
Your bank, card issuer, or payment provider may impose its own currency-conversion or international transaction fees. Such third-party fees are outside Meridian Quiet’s control.
9. Shipping
Shipping is available only to destinations currently supported by our store.
Our current primary shipping destinations are:
- Japan;
- United States, excluding California and Vermont;
- Canada, excluding Manitoba, Québec, and Saskatchewan; and
- Australia.

10. Import requirements
Customers are responsible for ensuring that an item may lawfully be imported into the destination specified in their order.
Unless expressly collected at checkout, customs duties, import taxes, brokerage charges, and other destination-country charges are the recipient’s responsibility.
We will provide customs information truthfully and will not intentionally misstate the nature or value of merchandise.
11. Returns and remedies
Our voluntary change-of-mind return conditions are described in our Returns & Refunds Policy.
Separate rights may apply when goods are faulty, unsafe, materially misdescribed, or otherwise fail to comply with mandatory consumer guarantees or other applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms or our Returns Policy excludes, restricts, or modifies a right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted, or modified.
For Australian consumers, our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
12. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, the text, original photography, graphics, branding, logos, website design elements, and original content created for Meridian Quiet are owned by or licensed to Meridian Quiet and may not be reproduced, republished, distributed, or commercially used without permission, except as permitted by law.
Third-party trademarks and brand names appearing in product descriptions remain the property of their respective owners.
References to vintage manufacturers or brands are used for identification and description of genuine or believed-to-be-genuine vintage items and do not imply sponsorship, affiliation, authorization, or endorsement unless expressly stated.
13. Prohibited use
You may not use this website:
- for unlawful or fraudulent purposes;
- to interfere with the security or operation of the website;
- to introduce malicious code;
- to attempt unauthorized access to accounts or systems;
- to scrape or systematically extract content in violation of applicable law; or
- to infringe intellectual-property or other legal rights.
14. Website availability
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the website or store where reasonably necessary.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access to the website.
15. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Meridian Quiet is not liable for losses that are indirect, consequential, or not reasonably foreseeable at the time of purchase.
This provision does not exclude or limit liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including rights and remedies available under applicable consumer protection law.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights that apply to you under the law of your place of residence and cannot lawfully be excluded by agreement.
Any dispute will be handled in accordance with applicable law and any mandatory jurisdictional rights available to the consumer.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
The version applicable to an order is the version made available when that order is placed, except where a change is required by law.
